Unfortunately, the politics of all night dancing is not as favorable as we'd all like. It seems that the majority of the time our gatherings encounter the authorities, the worst that happens is trying to find where else to go for the evening. However, there are a growing number of incidences where, when the ideal of raving and the reality of the law meet, negative and sometimes violent incidences occur. Be it ignorance on our part, or fear and anger from the authorities, we as individuals and a community need to understand our rights and how to assert them in order to protect ourselves from acts of police misconduct.
Originally, these pages were intended to convey the community's experiences with the law, with the hopes of us being able to learn from our mistakes. The potential has now been realized for these pages to become a reference to local and national resources for learning about and protecting our right to dance.
Though much of these pages are orienteted towards resources of the SF Bay Area, there's plenty of room for info on legal resources/laws in other citites and countries as well.
Finally, advice/experience from working legal professionals would be a wonderful addition.
